Google has launched a great Star Wars Easter Egg within its search results. Simply type “A long time ago in a galaxy far far away” into the Google Search and you will get the search results, “Star Wars style”.
When you activate the Star Wars search, the results will appear to scroll up, similar to the Star Wars opening prologue you see in the movies. These are actual search results, and in case you want a clear view of the results you can either press the pause button in the top right-hand corner or close down the Star Wars style scrolling altogether.
You can see a video of the action below:
Choose the “light side” or “dark side.”
This promotional stunt comes hot on the heels of another Google launched just a few days before. If you visit https://www.google.com/starwars/ you will be able to choose between the “light side” or “dark side”:
Once you have chosen a side (we chose the dark side), you will get the option to install various add-ons to make you website experience themed. The only one we installed was the Chrome Addon that gave us some nice wallpaper backgrounds to the chrome browser when it first loads.
In addition to the various themed add-ons etc., you get to influence the “balance of the Force” by your choice. The balance is shown when you scroll down the page once you make your choice. As of the date of this post it is as follows:
And if that doesn’t get you excited for Star Wars, then Google has released a promo video with some rather cool footage of the new Star Wars Films:
More Star Wars Themed Easter Eggs to Come
In the blog post announcing the “Awaken the Force Within” campaign to choose either the light or dark side, they indicated that they have many more promotions \ Easter Eggs being rolled out before the opening night:
You can see the clever hint at the search for “A long time ago in a galaxy far far away” in the announcement post. We can’t wait to see what follows.
