We must admit that our experience with Joomla is relatively limited, despite Joomla being around since August 2005, a fork of the old Mambo software. Our initial experience with website development was with Drupal, although for the last couple of years have very much become WordPress fans due to the ease of use, and the many fantastic WordPress themes that are available.
But we digress. The great thing about this sponsorship is that it shows how proactive InMotion Hosting are with supporting open source software and participating within the wider community. Without such sponsors events such as the Joomla! World Conference would not exist.
InMotion Hosting was the Power Sponsor of the Joomla! World Conference 2013 (8th – 10th November), and is the Platinum Global Sponsor of the Joomla! Project. The Joomla! Project consists of two working groups: Production and Community, each focusing on a particular aspect of Joomla with the aim of Joomla growth and development.
Joomla World Conference Summary
They sent along their very own Affiliate Manager, Jason, to the event presumably to develop some new relationships and promote their brand, taking advantage of their very visual sponsorship of the event. Of course, in the age of modern technology, it is possible to view all the keynote speeches thanks to this very handy YouTube playlist. The topics were quite varied and ranged from responsive design, a Star Trek twist to the history of WordPress, as well as many great business and leadership tips during the popular Ignite session.

Overall, it seems that the 300 or so attendees, who came from all over the world to be there had a great time.
Jason at InMotion Hosting commented:
One of the great things about the conference was that all the sessions were given labels (Developer, Integrator, Designer, SEO Marketing or Community), that enabled easy identification of the topics expertise level. This enabled all attendees to identify easily the best talks for them.
The success of the event clear indication of the enthusiasm all attendees and speakers have for Joomla! It should be noted that none of the organizers were paid, and were all volunteers from within the Joomla community itself. This is no small feat and a testament to the whole Joomla project.
A Little about the Joomla World Conference
It may surprise you to know that this is only the second year of the conference, supported primarily in its first year by Ebay, who allowed the use of their facilities in San Jose, California. The aim of the first conference was simple, to gather fans of Joomla! from around the world to share their stories about Joomla in a unique atmosphere.
