Namecheap iOS app update introduces new features

Namecheap has recently announced a major update to their iOS App, with a brand-new menu design, premium domain support and Password Manager support (i.e. LastPass, 1 Password). Improvements were also made to the overall stability and Performance.

We last reported on an update to the app back in October 2014, and since then it has been updated to work on iOS 8.0 or later. The overall feature-set remains virtually unchanged (apart from the new features above), and include the ability to:

  • Instantly Search, register and renew domains
  • Manage DNS, WhoisGuard settings, and auto-renewal preferences
  • Add and manage Address Profiles
  • Add Namecheap funds to your account
  • Pay with Apple Pay
  • Submit and manage support tickets

The app works seamlessly with your iPhone or iPad.

New Namecheap iOS App Features

We will take a look at some of the new features in detail below:

1. New Menu Design

You can now toggle between the domain search screen to your list of domains with a touch of a button:

2. Premium Domain Support

Many domains are retained by the domain registries to sell at premium prices. With the new update, you can now search and buy these domains directly from the app:

3. View Availability of all TLD’s on One Screen

When searching for domains by keyword, you can now see the availability of that keyword across all TLDs in once simple screen:

4. Password Manager Support

One of the best new features is the support for Password Managers. This makes it much easier and more secure to log into your Namecheap Account. Managers such as LastPass and 1 Password are supported:

Is there an Android App?

When we last talked about the Namecheap App back in 2014, there was a lot of complaints about the lack of an Android version of the app. Indeed, even on this update, Namecheap make no mention of an Android version either.

Fortunately, it does seem that Namecheap has rolled out an app for Android, which you can find here. The Android App was last updated on the 20th April 2016, but it would seem no mention is made on the App page of any of these new features.

If you want to try out the new app to purchase a new domain, please remember that you can get 10 percent off your domain registration costs here.
